Nipple reduction

Unfortunately, the length and size of the nipple does not always harmonize with the size of the breast or areola. Thus, a nipple can be perceived as too long and large and thus annoying. Large nipples can be congenital, but an enlarged nipple can also form through a piercing, which can disturb one’s own body image due to one-sidedness (asymmetry). The desire for nipple reduction is just as common among men as it is among women.

Consultation on nipple reduction

The personal consultation is a prerequisite for achieving the optimal result for you. In the detailed consultation on nipple reduction, we will also inform you about possible risks and prospects of success and carry out any necessary preliminary examinations. We perform nipple reduction under local anesthesia. Extended sedation or anesthesia is also possible.

Procedure of nipple reduction

If the nipple reduction is planned under local anesthesia, you can have a normal breakfast in the morning. Before the procedure, there is sufficient time to discuss any remaining questions about nipple reduction. The nipples are reduced to the ideal size by special plastic surgery techniques and the wounds are closed with fine sutures.

What to do after nipple reduction

Usually, mild painkillers are sufficient after nipple reduction. For your safety, we are of course available to you by phone after the nipple reduction. The stitches are removed after about 2 weeks. Sporting activities should be avoided during the healing period so as not to impair wound healing. The healing phase should be accompanied by regular follow-up checks.
